Northern Ice Roads

Services

Every year, for 60 frozen days between January and April, the northern landscape accommodates a winter road built across frozen lakes and tundra. The 350-kilometre winter ice road provides a vital lifeline for remote diamond mines spotted across Canada's North. With 75 percent of the road built over frozen lakes, the ice road must be reconstructed annually to accommodate the short ice road season. Tli Cho Landtran Transport is a certified carrier for Canada's northern diamond mines, and transports thousands of loads each year during the short winter ice road season.

More economically viable than transporting goods by air, northern companies move the majority of their goods across the frozen roads. Due to the large volume of loads that need to travel the roads in a single season, 24-hour per day dispatching of loads is a necessity. This requires extensive planning and logistics to ensure all loads are transported when our clients need them.

Tli Cho Landtran Transport provides truckload, less than truckload, flatdeck and heavy haul services across the northern ice roads. Our experience with a variety of load types allows us to accommodate the most challenging needs of our clients.

Safety

There is an inherent risk with transporting multi-tonne trucks over mere inches of ice. The safety of our drivers, staff and customers' loads is top priority at Tli Cho Landtran. All drivers go through a comprehensive training and testing process to ensure they comply with our strict procedures and regulations before heading out on the ice. Our staff are thoroughly trained and prepared to handle any situation that might arise during the season.

Our clients' loads are also of utmost importance, and we match the experience of our drivers with the size and difficulty of the load to be transported.
